[E]Motion is the name of the challenging journey that Alessandro, a deaf and visually impaired young man affected by the Usher Syndrome, will make together with Rare Partners, riding his tandem bike “Bike4Usher” in support of research for the Usher Syndrome.

The [E]Motion project will start from Camogli on August 27th and will end on Sunday September 1st at the Caldonazzo Lake, where Alessandro and Rare Partners will take part in the swimming relay, the final race of the Caldonazzo’s stage of the  IOWT (Italian Open Water Team) circuit.

E_MOTION: moving research
The name of the project comes from the fusion of EMOTION and MOVEMENT: the journey begins with these two words. The movement connects Research and Rare Partners, which has chosen sport as its main communication tool.

Communicate and ride: the chain line
Pedaling in tandem is bonding; both riders spin the pedals, and two chains are used. The chain represents the fulcrum of the transmission group and of the communication between Alessandro in the back and his guide in the front, who will hear and watch for both..

The [E]Motion flag, that Alessandro will carry with him along the journey, will represent the symbol of the fundraising campaign and will show the names of all donors that will participate in spirit to the journey.

Usher Syndrome
Alessandro is affected by the most serious form of Usher Syndrome, a rare genetic disease that affects both hearing and vision, and therefore he was born deeply deaf and through the years he developed a retinitis pigmentosa which progressively led him to a stage of almost blindness.
